When using our useful automation tool, there are five available trigger types: signup, date-based, link click, field change, and contact import. A contact import event triggers a workflow when new contacts are imported into your account.
When building a workflow, you’ll want to choose Contact Import as your trigger type and then select Next. On the following screen, you’ll see that the CSV, XLS, XLSX Upload default checked.
Selecting Next will direct you to confirm your selection.
When choosing an audience for your contact import trigger workflow, we suggest selecting Any contact in my audience or the specific group that you plan to import your contacts to.
After your workflow is built and activated, you can begin importing the new contacts you want to target. You can follow the steps to import found here. When uploading your file and choosing your contact source, you’ll also need to select the checkbox labeled Yes, trigger manual import workflows from this import. If this option is not selected, your workflow will not fire for the specific import performed.
Frequently asked questions about contact import triggers
If I import existing contacts will they also be eligible for a contact import workflow?
No, existing contacts in your account will not be part of the audience for contact import workflows, only new contacts will be targeted.
I don’t see the contact import trigger as an option in my account, why not?
This trigger is available to distributed team accounts.
