This article explains how to format superscript and subscript text. For more information about text blocks in general, please refer to these articles:

What is superscript and subscript?
Subscript and superscript texts are when a part of a line of copy is either slightly higher or lower than the baseline text. Subscript is when the text appears below the baseline and superscript is when the text appears above it, as shown in the following example.

How to make text superscript or subscript in the legacy* editor
When using our legacy* editor, it’s easy to transform any part of your copy into subscript or superscript text, it just requires making a slight adjustment to the HTML of the text block that the copy is in.
- Navigate to your Campaigns tab.
- Open a saved legacy* draft or click on the Create new campaign button to choose a legacy* template.
- Click on the text block icon in the left panel and drag it over to your mailing.
- As you drag the block over to your campaign, you will see yellow sections appear labeled Drop here. These yellow drop spots will turn green as you hover over them, so you know where the content block will appear in the mailing.
- Once you release the block, it will appear in the place you designated.
- Enter your copy into the text block.
- In the toolbar at the top, click on the </> button to open the block’s HTML code.
- In the pop-up window, located the text you you want to make superscript or subscript and add the required tags on either side.
- Superscript:
<sup>
Superscript copy goes here
- Subscript:
<sub>
Subscript copy goes here
- Superscript:
If you don’t see the text transform right away in the legacy* editor, click on the Save button and then Preview the campaign. If the text has not transformed, try sending yourself a test so that you can see how the text appears when delivered to your inbox. This is one of the steps because sometimes the subscript formatting does not show right away or in the preview, but it will show in the test campaign that you send, so always be sure it works properly by sending yourself a test first.
* In April 2022, our legacy editor was replaced with a new drag and drop editor. Accounts that existed prior to this change still have access to the legacy editor through their previously saved templates and campaigns, however new, from-scratch campaigns can only be created in the new drag and drop editor. Accounts that were created after this change only have access to the new drag and drop editor. Please refer to our new editor FAQ article for more information.
