In April 2022, our new drag and drop editor was activated in all accounts. As much as we love the new editor, we to be clear that your existing legacy editor assets aren’t going anywhere and all of your saved legacy campaigns and templates are indeed still in your account.
This is because the new drag and drop editor and the legacy editor will exist together for some time. Meaning, you’ll still be able to use the legacy campaigns, templates, and automations that are already in your account in addition to the new drag and drop editor work that you will create. To help prevent confusion, we’ve put together this quick list of what you can expect now that the new drag and drop editor is live in all accounts.
New campaign tags
Now that the new editor is live, one of the first differences that you’ll likely notice is that there’s now a Legacy tag next to your campaign drafts that were created in the legacy editor. If you click on one, you’ll see that it opens in the legacy editor that you’re used to seeing. Here, you’ll be able to edit your draft, send tests, and ultimately review and send your mailing, just like normal.
For any new campaigns that you create, you’ll notice that there’s an Editor tag next to those drafts once you have saved them. Moving forward, any campaigns with a Legacy tag will open in the legacy editor and any campaigns with an Editor tag will open in the new editor.
Template gallery changes
When you open your template gallery, you’ll find your recently sent campaigns, templates, shared templates, and the sample gallery in the panel on the left. Similar to your campaign drafts, all of campaigns and templates that you see here now have tags next to them, specifying which editor that campaign / template was made with.
Any of your recently sent legacy campaigns or legacy templates will have an orange Legacy tag next to their name. Whereas, any of your recently sent drag and drop campaigns or templates will have a green Editor tag next to their name.
Using legacy templates
You can still use your templates that are saved with the legacy editor tag to create new campaigns. Whenever you select to use one of your legacy editor templates, it will open in the legacy editor, not the new drag and drop editor. Only templates with the green Editor tag will open in the new drag and drop editor.
Other template gallery changes
There are two other main differences in the template gallery now that the new editor is live in all accounts. First, the sample templates only open in the new drag and drop editor and there are no sample templates available for the legacy editor. You’ll can still use your previously saved legacy templates, but the legacy template examples are gone.
Second, when you click Start from scratch to create a completely new, blank campaign, your new draft will open in the new drag and drop editor. New, blank campaigns can no longer be created in the legacy editor, only the new drag and drop editor. If you want to create a new legacy campaign, you will need to use one of your previously saved legacy templates.
Automated campaigns will also be tagged
If you have legacy campaigns in active automations, they will continue to work, you’ll just see the Legacy tag next to their names. If you need to edit your legacy automated campaigns, they will open in the legacy editor, just like non-automated legacy campaigns. Currently, there isn’t a way to change which campaigns are in an automation, so when you’re ready to use new drag and drop campaigns in your automation, you’ll need to create a new workflow.
