Generating an “Add to Calendar” Link

This article explains how to use an ICS file to create an “add to calendar” link in your campaign.

An ICS (or .ics) file is an iCalendar file that contains calendar event data. If you have an ICS file ready to go, you can easily upload it into your document library and link it in your mailing. Currently, we can only accept ICS files in order to create an “add to calendar” link, and because of this, we cannot provide instructions on adding files from an Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar, or others.

Adding an ICS File to Your Campaign

  1. Navigate to your Campaigns tab.
  2. Click on the Documents section in the panel on the left.
  3. Click on the Upload button on the right.
  4. Select and upload the ICS file.
  5. Open the desired campaign draft.
  6. Follow the steps to insert a link to the ICS file, just like you would do for any other document.
    1. Drag and Drop Editor: Links
    2. Legacy* Editor: Links

After you are finished with the rest of the campaign, save it, and send a test. Once you send the mailing, recipients who click on the link should be prompted to add the event to their calendar. Please note that this behavior may vary depending on the receiving device, browser, etc.

Note: This feature is not dynamic, therefore any changes made to the calendar after the link has been added will not be updated for the recipient.

* In April 2022, our legacy editor was replaced with a new drag and drop editor. Accounts that existed prior to this change still have access to the legacy editor through their previously saved templates and campaigns, however new, from-scratch campaigns can only be created in the new drag and drop editor. Accounts that were created after this change only have access to the new drag and drop editor. Please refer to our new editor FAQ article for more information.
