As more and more people use their phones to access email content, knowing how your campaigns will look on mobile is an essential element to your marketing success. To that end, mobile design mode allows you to switch the view of the drag and drop* editor to see how the campaign will look on mobile and to continue to build the campaign while in the mobile view.
Where to find the mobile design mode
By default, all of our templates are mobile optimized and it only takes the click of your mouse to see exactly how your campaigns will look on mobile devices or vice versa, which makes switching between desktop and mobile views a breeze.
- Navigate to your Campaigns tab.
- Open a saved drag and drop draft or click on the Create new campaign button to create a new campaign from scratch.
- In the upper left corner of the editor, there are two icons.
- Click on the desktop icon to work in desktop design mode.
- Click on the smartphone icon to work in mobile design mode.
When you switch to mobile design mode, the editor’s content area will reduce to 320px against a gray backdrop. However, the gray backdrop is not part of your campaign design, it is just the look of the mobile design mode.
Once mobile design mode is enabled, you can continue to design or edit your campaign in the mobile view, while still using all of the same options in the drag and drop editor.
Using the hide on mobile or desktop options
If you’ve chosen to hide any blocks or rows on mobile, then you will also see a third icon in the upper left corner of the page. The eye icon represents the visibility of hidden elements and can be used to turn off or on any hidden content. This allows you to temporarily hide content that’s hidden on mobile for the sake of previewing your design and then turn it back on so that you make sure that it doesn’t get moved to the wrong place while you’re working.
* In April 2022, our legacy editor was replaced with a new drag and drop editor. Accounts that existed prior to this change still have access to the legacy editor through their previously saved templates and campaigns, however new, from-scratch campaigns can only be created in the new drag and drop editor. Accounts that were created after this change only have access to the new drag and drop editor. Please refer to our new editor FAQ article for more information.
