The Menu block is an essential element if you are including a navigation menu in your email campaigns. It ensures that all of the spacing and functionalities in the menu work as expected and allows you to link the items in a number of ways.
The Menu block is only available in the drag and drop editor. For information about legacy* editor content blocks, please refer to this article.
How to use the Menu block
- Navigate to your Campaigns tab.
- Open a saved drag and drop draft or click on the Create new campaign button to create a new campaign from scratch.
- Click on the Menu block in the right panel and drag it to the desired location in your mailing.
- Click on the block to open the Content properties panel.
- Click on the Add new item button to add your first menu item.
- Use the options to customize your menu item.
- Text: Use this field to enter the label for this menu item.
- Link type: Use the dropdown menu to determine whether you want to link to a webpage, an email address, a telephone, or an SMS link.
- URL: Enter the URL for the link.
- Target: Use the dropdown to determine if the link should open in a new tab or redirect the current tab.
- Title: Enter a title for the URL. This title will be used as an identifier in your response data.
How to delete and reorder items
To delete an item, click on the Delete link for that item in the Content properties panel on the right. You can delete the whole block by clicking on the trashcan icon in the blue toolbar that appears above or below the block when selected.
To re-order your items, click on the set of four lines at the top of the item’s settings in the Content properties panel and drag the item up or down.

Here are the Menu block settings that are found in the Content properties panel.

Text | Controls the label for the menu item. |
Link type | Controls the type of link behind the item. Click on the dropdown menu to choose from a webpage, email, telephone, or SMS link. |
URL | Controls the URL behind the item. |
Link target | Controls whether the link will open in a new tab or redirect the current tab. Click on the dropdown menu to select an option. |
Link title | Controls the title of the link behind the item. |
Add new item | Add additional items to your menu. |
Item order | Changes the order of the items. Click on the four stacked lines that correspond to an item and drag it up / down to change its position. |
Font family | Click on the dropdown menu to choose a font. |
Font weight | Click on the dropdown menu to choose a font weight. |
Font size | Use the plus and minus signs to choose a font size. |
Text color | Click on the color swatch to choose a text color or highlight the hex code and type in your own. |
Link color | Click on the color swatch to choose a link color or highlight the hex code and type in your own. |
Align | Controls whether the items are left, center, or right aligned. |
Letter spacing | Changes the amount of space between each letter. |
Layout | Controls the type of layout: vertical or horizontal. |
Separator | If your menu uses a horizontal layout, and you would like some distinction between each of your menu items, then you can insert a line separator that can be used to divide them. |
Mobile menu | Controls the appearance of the menu on mobile. Click on the toggle to adjust the icon size and type, as well as the foreground and background colors for the mobile menu icon. |
Item padding | Controls the amount of space on all sides of each item. Use the plus and minus signs to adjust the padding to your liking or click on the More options toggle to adjust the padding for each side individually. |
Block padding | Controls the amount of space around the whole block. Use the plus and minus signs to adjust the padding to your liking or click on the More options toggle to adjust the padding for each side individually. |
Hide on | Click on the desktop icon to hide the block on desktop devices. Click on the smartphone icon to hide the block on mobile devices. |
* In April 2022, our legacy editor was replaced with a new drag and drop editor. Accounts that existed prior to this change still have access to the legacy editor through their previously saved templates and campaigns, however new, from-scratch campaigns can only be created in the new drag and drop editor.
