How the Template Builder works
The Template Builder lets you customize a template’s components using the same controls that the drag and drop editor uses to build the campaigns in your account. You can start from scratch or use one of the templates from the gallery and make any changes you’d like. It’s easy to drag in new content blocks, update the header or footer, change the background colors, and much more.
When using the Template Builder, it’s helpful to think of templates as a piece of stationery; then any campaign you create is content that you’re placing on top of your template, or writing on that stationery. Once complete, you can share the template with any of your subaccounts.
One thing to remember about working at the parent account level is that you can upload images and documents to the Brand Manager and then share them with your designated subaccounts. This means when you upload a document to your Brand Manager document library, you can choose which subaccounts should see the documents in their library, or you can also link to a document in a shared campaign or template without adding that document to the subaccount library.
About the legacy* Template Builder
Now that the new drag and drop editor is live, you will see that all of your saved templates are labeled accordingly with ‘LEGACY’ or ‘EDITOR’. Moving forward, you will only be able to create new templates using the new drag and drop editor. But you can rest assured that whenever you reopen or copy any of your previously saved legacy templates you will still have access to the legacy Template Builder to continue working on them.
This article provides instructions for using the new drag and drop Template Builder. For information on how to edit your legacy templates, please refer to this article.
Where to find shared templates and campaigns
When subaccount users are ready to create a new campaign, they will find any templates or campaigns that have been shared with them in the following places:
- Campaigns that have been created with the Campaign Builder and shared can be found in the Shared tab of the subaccount’s Campaigns page.
- Templates that have been shared from the Brand Manager can be found in the Shared templates section of the subaccount’s Template Gallery.
- Templates that have been shared through folders can be found in the Shared with me section of the subaccount’s Template Gallery, by clicking on the name of the appropriate folder.
How to create a new template in the parent account
- If you are working in the parent account, click on the Brand Manager tab in the top navigation menu. If you are working in a subaccount, click on the house icon in the upper right corner of your screen and select Brand Manager from the dropdown menu.
- On the next page, you’ll see tabs for Style guide, Templates, Campaigns, Images, and Documents. Click on the Templates tab and then click on the blue Create new template button.
- Here, you’ll need to choose an existing template to use as the starting point or just start from scratch. You can select an option from our extensive sample gallery (shown below in orange and organized by type) or use one of your existing templates found under My gallery (shown below in blue). Simply hover your mouse over the template of your choice and click Start here. If you don’t want to use an existing template as a base, click on the Start from scratch button, (indicated below by a green arrow).
Whether you choose a sample template or one of your own, the editor will create a copy of that template for you to work in, so that the original version remains unchanged.
How to edit a template
- Should you need to make a change to one of your saved templates, head back to your Brand Manager page and click the arrow next to the template you want to edit.
- A dropdown menu will appear; choose the Edit option to access that template in the builder.
Templates created at the subaccount level cannot be edited at the parent account level unless they are added to the parent account’s Brand Manager.
How to share, copy, or delete a template
To share, copy, or delete a template, you will use the same dropdown menu that allows you to edit it. From your Brand Manager page, click the arrow next to the template you want to edit. A dropdown menu will appear with several options: Edit, Share to subaccounts, Duplicate, and Delete.
- To copy a template, select Duplicate from the dropdown menu.
- To delete a template, select Delete. In the pop-up window that appears, click on the Delete button to confirm your choice. Please note: Any asset that is deleted at the parent level is not recoverable. This includes templates, campaigns, images, and documents.
- To share a template, select Share to subaccounts. In the window that appears, you can choose which subaccounts will have access to that template. If you want to share it with all of your subaccounts, you can click the toggle next to Share with all current and future subaccounts.

* In April 2022, our legacy editor was replaced with a new drag and drop editor. Accounts that existed prior to this change still have access to the legacy editor through their previously saved templates and campaigns, however new, from-scratch campaigns can only be created in the new drag and drop editor. Accounts that were created after this change only have access to the new drag and drop editor. Please refer to our new editor FAQ article for more information.
