Legacy Editor: Adding a Table to a Text Block

This article explains how to add a formatted table to a text block in the legacy editor.

For more information about the legacy* text block, please refer to our How to Format Text in the Legacy Editor article. For information about using the table block in the drag and drop editor, please refer to our How to Use the Table Block article.

Creating a Table

Before you can create a table, you need to add a text block to your campaign.

  1. Navigate to your Campaigns tab.
  2. Open a saved legacy* draft or click on the Create new campaign button to choose a legacy* template.
  3. Click on the Text block icon in the left panel and drag it over to your mailing.
  4. As you drag the block over to your campaign, you will see yellow sections appear labeled “Drop here”. These yellow drop spots will turn green as you hover over them, so you know where the content block will appear in the mailing.
  5. Once you release the block, it will appear in the place you designated.

Once you’ve added your Text block, follow these steps to create your table:

  1. Click on the Insert button in the text toolbar.
  2. Select Table from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the dropdown window that appears, click on the grid and drag your cursor to highlight the number of columns and rows that you want your table to have.
  4. Once you’ve made your selection, release your cursor and the table will appear in your campaign.

Editing a Table

Once a table has been added to your mailing, it will behave similarly to a spreadsheet. You can click inside of it to adjust it as you like.

Insert or Delete Rows and Columns

To add another row, highlight a row and select to insert a row above or below it. You can also delete rows and add or delete columns this way. Simply highlight a column or row, and make your selection.

Format Text

To format the text of the entire table, you can highlight the whole table by clicking the square at the top-left corner. Or, to format individual cells, rows, or columns, you’ll just need to highlight that content and use the text toolbar make your font selections.

* In April 2022, our legacy editor was replaced with a new drag and drop editor. Accounts that existed prior to this change still have access to the legacy editor through their previously saved templates and campaigns, however new, from-scratch campaigns can only be created in the new drag and drop editor. Accounts that were created after this change only have access to the new drag and drop editor. Please refer to our new editor FAQ article for more information.
